Contents page progression; part five.

Hi guys! I'm at the stage with my contents page now where I think it may be complete, with only minor alterations to be made. I have made a lot of changes to this page in order to make it realistic and how a real contents page looks like.

Since my last progression post I extended my added content box and made it wider as I felt it effectively filled the space that was there beforehand. By making it wider, it created an extra space at the bottom of the box. Therefore, I filled it with another story which both filled the box and added more content for readers.

A couple of months ago I attended the One Direction concert at the stadium of light in Sunderland, and of course, I took the perfect opportunity to lift my camera into the air and take plenty of photos. A specific image which is featured on my contents page on the right hand side, shows the multiple strobes of lighting on stage coming together and projecting out to the audience. It also shows a strip of the audience at the bottom of the image and one of the side screens. I thought this would fit well on my magazine as the other two images on the page are of two different models, so this image breaks it up.

I plan on making minor adjustments to my contents page, such as composition of images and font size.

Contents page progression; part four.

Hi guys! This is my fourth progression page for my contents page which shows the changes that I have made from my last post.

Since my last post the first thing that I improved on is the text down the left hand side of the page. I added more stories so that my magazine looks fuller and I then decided to add an extra column beside it, as an added bonus for readers.

I have changed the font size several times on this block of text in terms of sizes. I decided to make the title, 'features' to be slightly smaller than it was before hand. I also changed the font size of the main story headings to be slightly bigger than they were before. The smaller writing underneath the story titles simply explains a little bit more on what that featured story is about. The reason that I decided to have it so much smaller than their titles is so that the titles stand out more to the reader. I also repeated this for the smaller column beside it.

As I stated on my last post, I intended to add an image of my main model that will also be the focus for my article onto my contents page, which is what I have done. I have slotted it in-between my other image and the text block on the left and made it slightly bigger than the other image to emphasize that it is the main article. I also altered the lighting on both images as they looked slightly orange to me.

To add to my contents page, I intend to add another image that has been taken and edited by myself just below the other image on the right hand side of the page. I feel as though there are empty spaces on the page that I need to fill which I intend to do for my next progression post.

Contents page progression; part three.

Hi guys! In my last two posts there have been updates on the progression of my music magazine contents page for my media course. Since the last update, I have made the changes that I explained that I would make in my post and also added something more.

As you can see, the text down the left hand side of the page is smaller than in my previous update as I felt I could fit a lot more text on there and make the magazine look fuller. In the top right hand corner underneath the strapline at the top, I have placed an image that I have taken and edited myself, to represent some added content in the magazine. I intend to also add an image of my main model that I have used on my front cover and will be using for my double page spread, as it will show readers where they can find the main article.

Contents page progression; part two

Hi guys! This is the second progression post that I have decided to make on my music magazine contents page. Since the previous post, there has been a big addition to the page as I have started to put some of the writing on down the left side of the page.

As you can see, the writing is quite large so I plan to reduce the font size so that I can get more writing on, so that the magazine looks fuller. I also think that the box containing the writing should be slightly smaller and shouldn't take up the whole space from the top to the bottom, so that I could perhaps fit a space at the bottom for a website address and a page number.

Contents page progression; part one.

Hi guys! Just like my front cover, I will be posting progression posts of the contents page that I am creating for my music magazine for my media project. These will show the progress that the page has made and the changes that I have decided to make to it.

Firstly, I decided to start with a white background as my colour scheme is black, white grey and red. I then added a black strip along the top of the page with the title of the page to make readers aware that this is the contents page. I also decided to add my magazine title on the top left corner of the page as that is what Q magazine do with their contents pages and that is the magazine, as well as Billboard, are my style models.

Front cover progress part five

Since my last post, I have added another story hook on the right hand side of the page as I felt that it looked bare compared to the other side. I think that now that there are story hooks on both sides of the front cover, it evens the page out and makes it look more organised.

Front cover progress part four

Since my last progression post for the front cover of my music magazine, I have added articles on the left hand side of the page. I have stuck with artists from the kind of genre of music that my magazine is based on. I also stuck with the strict colour scheme of white, grey, black and burgundy. I decided to have the artists names in burgundy as it stands out and will automatically attract the readers attention. I kept the rest of the writing black to go alongside the font of the website and the date. As well as this, I decided to have the word 'exclusive' in bold, white letters that are larger than the rest of the story hooks. This makes the word more visible than the story hooks, so that readers will firstly read that it is an exclusive article, which will entice them to buy the magazine even more.

Front cover progress part three

Since my last progression post for my front cover, I have altered the colour of the image of the model. In my last post the image was looking very orange toned, so I decided to de-saturate the image. I have also added the magazines website link down the side of the magazine, next to the barcode. This informs readers of the magazines website so that they are able to get further information on any articles that are featured in the magazine, which will make the readers want to purchase the magazine even more.

Front cover progress part two

Hi guys! This is the second part to my progression posts of my front cover, which shows a little bit more progress than the previous post.

In addition to the first part of my progression posts I firstly added the issue date underneath the title and also the 'new' sign in the top right hand corner, to indicate to customers that it is a new issue of the magazine. Next I added a barcode in the bottom right hand corner as an authentic magazine style has and I added the title of the main article featured in the magazine across the main image so that it stands out.

Front cover progress part one.

Hi guys! Whilst I'm in the progress of creating my music magazine for my media project, I thought I would post two updates of how it is progressing so far. These will be separated into two posts, so I can explain what I have done so far.

So far I have created the background colour which is a gradient of grey to white down the page which is behind my main image. My main image was edited on photoshop where I cropped out the background and edited the lighting. The title of my magazine 'UTA' is in a black-to-white gradient against a dark toned red block on the top left of the page so that it stands out.
